Any item or device that you put on your body to change the function and form of a body part is known as an orthotic (orthosis). So, a shoe insert, knee brace, hand splint, and some casts are all types of orthotics.

Orthotics (orthosis) are applied to feet, ankles, knees, hips, backs, elbows, hands, and necks. They are frequently sized or custom made by health professionals like an orthotist, podiatrist, or therapists. However, orthotics (orthosis) are sometimes purchased off the shelf based on a size chart.
Precautions:
- Follow the wearing time set up by your health professional and/or on the packaging.
- Clean the orthotic as directed as heat can often alter the shape.
- Check for skin irritations after removing the orthotic.
- Check the fit if you have any weight/size change.
- To be effective apply and secure the orthotic to your body as directed.
